Munns on the Run
Story
I'm taking part in the 2012 Melbourne Marathon Festival and hoping to raise much needed funds for charity. I'll be running in the 10km event.
If you know me, you'll know that I clearly wasn't born to run any distance at all. And you'll also know that my body is broken. So, this is a huge challenge for body and mind. Training is going well, and I'm very determined to finish in a decent time.
I'm running for a Not For Profit - http://www.oneinfive.com.au/. One in Five raises funds for medical research into mental illness. The tragdey of mental illness hit home for me a few years ago.
I am honoured to be a part of this amazing race and helping a great cause, and I’d really appreciate your support in this endeavour.
ALL donations you give go directly to charity, so click on DONATE NOW!
Thank you for your support and helping to make a difference
Activity
One in Five – Part of the Mental Health Research Institute
One in Five is a volunteer run not-for-profit. We are an events based organisation who raises funds for medical research into mental illness.
Since 2004 we have raised over $1.6m.Unfortunately one in five Australians suffer from mental illness. On top of the misery it creates for sufferers and their families, mental illness comes at a enormous cost to the Australian economy: six million working days are lost and 30 million working days are affected by reduced productivity due to depression.
We believe medical research will change mental illness. Increased investment in cancer and diabetes research has radically changed these diseases; improving diagnoses, and significantly improving the success of medical treatments available. One in Five currently supports research is undertaken at the Mental Health Research Institute or MHRI, Australia’s premiere psychiatric research centre, in Parkville, Victoria.
